Inconsistency isn’t a bad thing- An interview with Owen Mustos

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Toronto chapter.

Hometown: Toronto

Relationship Status: Single

Program and Year: First Year Life Science

College: Victoria College

You’ve lived in Toronto for most of your life. What’s it like to go to university in your hometown?

Well, it feels kind of like I’m in a different city because we spend all our time in Victoria College, or downtown Toronto, but where I used to live wasn’t the downtown core. But it still feels pretty comfortable to be living where I’ve always lived.

What’s your favourite spot to hang out in Toronto? Has it evolved during the course of your life?

During the last year of high school, I hung out around Lawrence Park. I also like Kensington Market a lot. I know that’s a generic answer, but it’s true.

What’s your favourite restaurant?

I really like Hogtown Vegan. It’s all Southern Food but it’s all “fake”(as in, it’s made with tofu).

Where do you shop around town?

I really like going to the Bay, mainly for the Diesel brand. I’m obsessed with All Saints and Rudsak. I’d say I shop around a lot of department stores.

What do you do for fun?

I used to be a huge gamer. Mainly now I just hang out with friends! I really like…television. As do a lot of people. You know, Netflix and chill. Reading has become just mandatory stuff. There’s a lot of socialization. I really like socializing, being with people.

What is your biggest regret in life so far?

I REALLY regret how many times I’ve been to 7/11 in the past week. (Editor’s Note: Don’t we all.)

What is your worst weakness?

Fish? I really hate being around fish.

That’s not really a weakness.

I mean, I feel like if you put me in a tank of fish I’d get really weak.

If you could have any career, what would it be?

I would be a head writer on a comedy television show. On a related note, I actually have the word “Comedy” tattooed on my ankle.

Would you prefer to be smart or happy? Why?

I would like to be able to say that I would like to be smart. And sometimes I think I am smarter than I am happy. But in all honesty if it really came down to it I would choose happiness, because that would just be more… pleasant.

Give us your five-word story.

Inconsistency isn’t a bad thing.
