Liquid lipsticks have been THE beauty staple this year, especially anything matte.  I promised myself as a kind of new year’s resolution that I wouldn’t spend as much money on makeup this year, but I ended up giving in and buying Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Lolita – and let me tell you lovelies, it is to die for!

Kat’s make up line has gained a huge following, and I wouldn’t be surprised if any of you already belonged to it (anyone else love her shade and light palette? I do!!!!!). Since I had such a good experience with her Shade and Light contour palette, I decided to give her liquid lipstick a try! Here’s a closer look at the colours in her line:

As far as colors go, there’s one for everyone no matter what their complexion or tastes are! I really want to try out the darker colors but I’m not sure if my wallet will allow me to anytime soon – sigh! Here’s what some of these colors look like on lips:

This liquid lipstick line goes on super matte, and it is super gorgeous in any color! Like I said earlier, I purchased this liquid lipstick in the shade “Lolita”. Lolita is basically the perfect nude shade with a hint of drama!

Overall I’d rate this lipstick a 4.7 out of 5, and here’s why:

1) The color and formula of the lipstick is to die for!

Like I said, it’s basically the perfect nude! The formula is also super saturated- it doesn’t really take much product to make your lips pop. Here’s a picture taken with natural light (taken as I made the trek to class from St. George Station)

2) It’s easy to apply and to fix if mistakes happen

Since I haven’t used many liquid lipsticks, I was a little worried that I might apply it wrong and then be stuck with it the whole day – you know, looking like a a six year old who just broke into her mom’s lipstick drawer.

The formula itself glides on super smoothly, but doesn’t dry right after you apply it so you can easily do a quick touch up or fix up if you accidentally colored out of lines. Applying a matte lipliner before using the lipstick, or using concealer after you’ve applied the lipstick should work wonders with this lipstick!

3) It’s relatively long lasting (alas nothing can be that perfect!)

For a liquid lipstick, it lasts pretty long! After applying it around 10a.m. on day, I pretty much drank some coffee and ate a sandwich in between so I expected the lipstick to be totally gone by 3p.m., but to my surprise it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be!

Sure it faded a bit (more toward the center) and sure it left a mark on my travel mug, but when all is said and done, it outlasted any of the lipstick’s I currently own. Even though it does fade eventually, you don’t really need too much product to do a quick touch up, so all is not lost!

I just had one con for this lipstick, and it’s not a doozy or anything, but I do think it’s worth mentioning: The formula tends to make your lips feel super dry

As with any matte liquid lipstick, they tend to dry out your lips a lot faster than regular ones, and this was absolutely true with Kat Von D’s liquid lipstick line. A possible solution? Apply a thin layer of lip balm to your lips before you apply your liquid lipstick. It might not last as long as it would if you didn’t, but it does make it feel a lot more comfortable! Applying a little balm on your lips afterward may be helpful too- but not too much! (It might rub off some of the product).

Hope this review was helpful! A 4.7 out of 5 is an amazing score so if you’re looking to splurge a little, definitely head to Sephora and try out Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipstick line, you won’t regret it, cause I know I’m not!

Cheers lovelies! xo

I'm a Shakespeare loving, eyebrow obsessing beauty junkie, who adores all things having to do with Harry Potter, delicious food, and good music. After 4 years I've finally graduated from the oh so wonderful, University of Toronto and am currently working toward a Masters of Information degree.  I'd like to think of myself as a modern day romantic with an unquenchable wanderlust. My current dream is to one day go on an international library hopping adventure! For an aspiring special collections librarian, that is definitely at the top of my list post-graduation. I am a frequent visitor of the ROM and love going see the Nutcracker during the holidays. As a Decemeber baby myself, I absolutely love the winter time, the snow, the holiday cheer, and the half coffee half hot chocolates I get from Timmys. As for music, my likes are pretty much across the board! From John Mayer to Sam Smith, Debussy to Duke Ellington, Xtina to today's pop hits, you'll find me somewhere in the middle. On a regular day, you'll probably find me at home with my dog Kacy on a Mad Men binge, or catching up with Once Upon a Time, The Good Wife, How To Get Away With Murder and Suits- ps. I love netflix!
