Flashback Friday with a hint of a Throwback Thursday

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

Have you heard?! Netflix is releasing a four-episode revival of The Gilmore Girls on November 25th this year. For half of us this is just the kind of news we needed to get us through the rough semester of midterms this semester, but for the other half, the hype is REAL. So I’m here to tell you why The Gilmore Girls are an essential for any collegiate woman’s repertoire of shows. The show not only illustrates the struggle and beauty that is a mother and daughter relationship, but also highlights life’s trial and errors brought on by both society and—of course—men. The show will not only take you through nostalgia of your high school self’s college search but it will also give you comfort about the toughness of the Ivy Leagues.

Not only did the revival come at an impeccable time, but it might even encourage you to start or finish the old seasons. For those of you who might have “homework” to do before getting to watch the big reveal, get a group of friends to start watching the series with. Instead of The Bachelor/ette viewing parties, you can watch The Gilmore Girls with your closest friends and suitemates. This is a cute way to bond with your gal pals (and guy friends) and give it a vintage and nostalgic feel. Also, Thanksgiving is around the corner and you can always catch up then. Although it is in the middle of midterms, everyone deserves a study break and spending it with The Gilmore Girls will definitely not be a waste of time.
