3 Reasons To Have a Bottle of Water With You At All Times

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Penn chapter.

Now, I know you are all sick of hearing “drink eight glasses of water every day.” You get it. Water is hydrating. Water is good for you. But since for most people, the taste of water is not nearly as enjoyable as the taste of soda, juice or even a cocktail here and there, you probably need more incentive to drink your eight glasses per day than that it’s simply good for you.

I know what you’re thinking. Isn’t juice good for me? It’s sweet and tasty and makes me happier in the morning alongside a hot bowl of oatmeal or a warm, toasted bagel. Doesn’t that make it good for me? And there are also a lot of vitamin C in citrus juices. Ok! It’s definitely good for me…right?

Well, the answer is this: yes! Many juices have vitamin C, which is great for your immune system among many things. However, it is simply not the same as water. Water does so much more than just hydrate you after a workout or cool you down on a hot summer’s day. Water is beneficial for your hair, your skin, your organs, and so much more. Here are three concrete reasons why drinking water will benefit your overall health – why you should drink those eight cups a day. So pull out that water bottle hidden deep at the back of your shelves, fill it to the brim with ice-cold water, and throw it in your bag on the way to class. I promise, you’ll be thankful you did.

1. Water helps maintain the balance of body fluids, which aids in digestions, absorption, circulation, creation of saliva, transportation of nutrients, and maintenance of body temperature.

2. Water is beneficial for your skin. You’re skin is an organ, and like any organs, it needs water to function properly. Water helps to hydrate your skin, which helps to prevent aging and acne among many things.

3. Water helps energize your muscles by bringing fluids to your muscle cells.
