Why We Can’t Wait for 2015!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Ottawa chapter.

The year 2014 went by quickly. It’s scary how time passes by so fast. However, we can’t deny that we are excited to see what 2015 has planned for us. If you’re someone who likes to plan ahead here are some events to get excited for!

1) Her Campus uOttawa’s Charity Fashion Show: Capital CatwalkIt’s back! The 3rd Annual Her Campus uOttawa Fashion show will take place on January 31st starting at 7pm. We will all gather for a fabulous fashionable night at the Ottawa Convention Center in support of the Ottawa Regional Research Foundation. You will have the chance to see the designs on the catwalk of many designers including Julien George, Zarucci, Naïké and Beach Beauty Essentials. You don’t want to miss this event so hurry up and buy your tickets here

2) Fifty Shades of ExcitementThe series of books everyone has been talking about has finally arrived on the big screen. We can’t wait to see unfold the story of Anastasia and Christian under our eyes. The movie has been set to be released sometime around Valentine’s Day. Until then, we have time to re-read the trilogy of E.L.James.

3) Touch Down!  It’s that time of the year again when our boyfriends ignore us for a night between guys surrounded by beer, wings and chips. On February 1st, every NFL fan will be in front of their television or in the University of Phoenix Stadium to scream and encourage their favorite team who made it to the Super Bowl championship game.

4) Turn up the beatNew Year also means brand new music from all the amazing artists who we love. However, there are some albums we can’t wait to finally hear. Most are aware that Drake’s upcoming album Views from the 6 was supposed to be released already, but the date got pushed back to spring 2015. A new band who have been destroying the chart recently, Fifth Harmony, will release their debut studio album by the end of January. Many other artists like Fall Out Boy, Gwen Stefani and Rihanna have planned to release new material this year, we just need to be patient a little longer…

5) Welcome to the familyCBS (the television network) will begin to air a new television show called CSI: Cyber. The show is the fourth series in the CSI franchise. You guessed pretty well that the new FBI team of Cyber Crime Investigators will be working to solve cases involving the cyber world. The cast includes Patricia Arquette, James Van Der Beek (swoon) and none other than Bow Wow. This show will for sure be a must see!

6) Baby InvasionWe shouldn’t really be excited about this, but we just can’t help to see all our favourite celebrities with their adorable baby bumps. From Carrie Underwood to Shakira we are excited to see how their bundle of joy comes out as. Ok, let’s just be honest, we just want to hear their babies names…

7) Frozen FeverFor the past few weeks, rumors in Hollywood are circulating that a Frozen sequel is a possibility. Idina Mendel (voice behind the hit song “Let it Go) said that a “Frozen 2” was in the works. However, we are not quite sure what that means since some sources say that the sequel will only be in the form of various books and some say it will be a stage musical. Anyway, let’s just keep our eyes wide open for the return of Elsa, Anna and hopefully…Olaf.

It seems like it will be an exciting and amazing year. Don’t forget to “expect the unexpected” because anything can happen when you dream big. Are there any other events you are excited about? Let us know in the comments below!

Be prepared to have the time of your life in 2015. Happy New Year to all the Her Campus uOttawa Readers!
