I can spend hours shopping for clothes, shoes, bags and beauty products. I can even go more than twice a week to make sure I didn’t miss any sales or promotions going on in my favourite shops. However, there is one item that I don’t have patience shopping for: bras. It’s so annoying because there are so many different brands and they all promise you the same thing. They are so many sizes, colours, shapes and prices to choose from.

A guy would totally be happy to be set loose in a lingerie shop, but it drives me crazy. I only go shopping for a bra when I absolutely need it.  I think the problem is that I don’t know how to find the perfect bra. So, I did some research and was able to come up with these tips for finding your dream bra:

Step 1: Know Your Bra Size

It may sound ridiculous, but in order to find the perfect bra, you have to know your exact bra size. You are not supposed to say “Oh, I think I am a…” No, you need to know it by heart and have no doubt about it. You can find your bra size with two important elements:

a)    The band size

You can ask someone to measure your chest with a tape measure. Make sure that the tape rests flat on your skin. You have to place the tape under your breast and around your back.

b)    The cup size

This one is a little bit harder to get, but it’s possible. You can just try different bras once you have your band size. Or, have someone measure you again but have the measuring tape go on top of the fullest part of your breasts. Once you have that number, calculate the difference between your band size to find the cup size according to this chart:

Step 2: Start Looking For the Bra

Once you have your bra size, you can start shopping for them properly. Take your time to look for different styles from semi cup to sports bras to push up bras.

Step 3: Be Careful about the Straps

Don’t underestimate the “power” of the straps. They can’t be too tight or too loose. Otherwise, you will never have the perfect look you are hoping for. If they dig into your shoulders, try loosening them a little. You also want to make sure the band is not digging into your sides, you should be able to fit a finger between you and the band. If it’s too tight, consider going up a band size.

Step 4: Wear it!

You have to try it before you buy it! Since there is no return policy for bras, make sure that it is the perfect fit. Also, make sure to move around while wearing it. Try jumping around or stretching to see if it holds everything in place. If it doesn’t, you should try on a different one.

Step 5: Beauty Means Everything

Yes! Now, you know you have the perfect bra. However, even though you aren’t showing your bra to the world, it doesn’t mean it has to be boring. Buy something that is going to make you happy and proud to wear it.

Hope that these tips will help you in your quest to finding the prefect bra!
