Take a Volunteer Trip to Haiti this Winter Break!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Have you every wanted to reach out and make a difference? Stretch a little out of your comfort zone and experience a brand new culture?

Then I’d like to introduce you to Opportunities for Communities. They are a non-profit educational organization. This Amherst-based group partners with a small community in Haiti and works with them on multiple projects to help them to become self-sustainable.

On this trip, you will get to experience Haitian culture first hand and interact with locals in the community daily. In the past we have worked on projects such as building a school for local children to attend and building a well to give the village clean drinking water. I’ve been to Haiti with this group twice and it is truly an amazing and life-changing experience. So spread the word Collegiettes! This is a chance to directly make an impact on people’s lives by showing them that you care.

Below are some photos from previous trips and this winter’s trip itinerary. If there are any questions feel free to contact me at cbarbaro@umass.edu

Hey all! I'm a sophomore here at UMass Amherst. I'm an English major and Education minor, and I'm psyched to be a part of Her Campus!
