Leaving for College: Freshmen vs. Senior

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Once you’re an upperclassmen, you seem to have the “college thing” down pretty solidly between class expectations, school supplies and social life but every year when the end of summer approaches there is a noticeable difference between leaving home as a freshmen for college and leaving home as a senior.

Freshmen:

School Shopping…

Senior:

“School Shopping” just means stocking up on alcohol and yoga pants.

Freshmen:

Packing the car…

(Unless you’re one of those extremely BASIC people who rent U-Hauls. Reevaluate your life. Call your parents and ask their forgiveness.)

Senior:

Packing the car…

(I’m not even sure what I packed. I think there was a pillow somewhere in my car… maybe?)

Freshmen:

Saying goodbye to your friends FOREVER!!!!!! because of life changes that you now realize you’re not emotionally ready for.

Especially that significant other that you recently broke up with / don’t know if you’ll stay together.

Seniors:

Saying ‘bye’…

Cause… I mean I’ll see everyone over Winter Break or something anyways?

And finally…

Freshmen:

Move in day…

Seniors:

Moving in…

Because no matter what year you are in college you’re finally back at college!
