It’s football season, which means it’s also time to step up your school spirit attire with this easy DIY. Follow these instructions to make your own quick, easy, adorable halter top with zero sewing needed!

Here’s what you will need:

For this project, you will need a pair of scissors, a roll of tape, and a shirt. The shirt must have a rounded collar. Also, make sure the shirt is tight-fitted. I did this by purchasing a children’s shirt at our campus store. (Collegiette life hack: Buying children’s shirts is also a great way to save money when you know you’ll be cutting the shirt up for a DIY project!)

Step 1:

Place two pieces of tape on the shirt as shown in the picture. Make sure the tape is as straight and even as possible.

Step 2:

Cut along the pieces of tape, using the strips as a guide to keep your lines straight. At this point, your shirt should look like this:

Step 3:

Just as you did with the strips of tape, use the collar of the shirt as a guide in order to cut the neck of the shirt. Then, remove the tape and clean up the arm holes using your scissors. At the end of this step, the front and back of your shirt should look like this:

Congrats! You have just made your very own DIY game day halter top!

To complete the look, I recommend pairing the top with sunglasses, denim shorts, and a pair of sneakers so you can walk around and show off your brand new shirt all day long. Happy football season and happy crafting!
