8 Instagram Accounts to Follow for the Ultimate Health and Fitness Inspiration

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

We’re almost halfway through the fall semester and most college students have already lost all motivation to stay fit and healthy since summer ended. Although it seems impossible to get back good habits, it most certainly is not. An app that most of us use every day gives us access to endless encouragement to get active again. Hint: that app is Instagram, and it’s full of health bloggers and users dedicated to wellness. Here are eight of my favorite Instagram bloggers that are helping me reach my fitness goals .

1. @leefromamerica

Lee Tilghman lives in Los Angeles and knows just about everything about women’s health. Her own experiences have driven her to share everything she knows to help others. She uses her platform, with over 200k followers, to help others and is definitely the queen of health and wellness on Instagram. Aside from women’s health, she shares amazing smoothie recipes and is famous for her matcha latte recipe. Lee is full of health knowledge, so definitely give her a follow!

2. @chickpeainthecity

This account is run by Addie Martanovic. Based in Chicago, she’s just out of college so we can all relate to her on some level. Addie is amazing — her enthusiasm for working out is truly … unique. Her love for SoulCycle inspired me to try a class, and I’ve been hooked ever since. Her always-positive attitude is contagious which goes a long way as a college student with constant stress.

3. @shutthekaleup

The handle of this account alone is exciting. Behind the name, though, is Jeannette Ogden: another superstar in the health blogging world based in Los Angeles. Following her Instagram is like having an ‘in’ on the best brands for health and wellness products. She’s one of a kind, so be sure to check her out.

4. @kirstygodso

Kirsty Godso’s title of Nike Master Trainer alone is inspiring. She doesn’t run a blog, but her Instagram is still strong in motivation and worth following. Her daily Instagram stories show her leaving for the day before the sun rises on her way to teach fitness classes, always with a pep in her step. She also shares a small circuit workout with her followers which is always killer: it’s the perfect amount of HIIT (high-intensity interval training) in limited amounts of time.

5. @rachlmansfield

Rachel’s Instagram is special because it caters to my sweet tooth. Baked goods made vegan and gluten-free can win me over any day. Her website is full of recipes from chocolate chip banana bread to guilt-free breaded chicken tenders, both paleo! Residing in Manhattan, she shares her day-to-day life, which includes all of the hottest workouts and wellness events. Her Instagram is one that you should definitely follow for healthy treats.

6. @twist_of_lemons

Katie Lemons is one of us. She’s a student in Northeastern University’s PA Program, and she’s even from Massachusetts. By following her Instagram, you’ll find how she balances a healthy lifestyle while drowning in studying. Katie’s known for her puns (which I might add are actually good) that make health and wellness more exciting. Although she’s easygoing and can always make me laugh, her knowledge is sophisticated and really helpful.

7. @balancewithb

Blair Flynn is a blogger in the Boston area. She shares her mouthwatering meals that are all filled with super nourishing ingredients. Anything you see on her account can be found on her blog, which I guarantee you’ll spend hours going through. On Instagram, she shares her daily yoga flow which truly makes me want to stretch it out at the end of a long day. Her knowledge all stems from her digestive issues, so people with gluten and dairy allergies, or people just trying out Kourtney Kardashian’s diet, this is the Instagram for you. A fan-favorite is her tahini caesar dressing!

8. @joja

This Instagram is full of inspiration from two Victoria’s Secret Angels. Jasmine Tookes and Josephine Skriver can both be seen walking the runway for the annual Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. They spend most of the year getting their bodies prepared for the show, and they share their prep work on a dedicated Instagram account. It’s where you can find workout moves that make booties round and tight and abs defined. The motivation never ends here, so surely give them a follow.
