5 Fabulous Fitness Instas to Follow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Mass Amherst chapter.

Who doesn’t enjoy waking up at 5:00 am for a nice multi-mile sprint? Oh, that’s right: normal people. Unless you live on the mountain summit that is Orchard Hill, finding the time and motivation to incorporate fitness and healthy meals into your daily routine is no piece of cake. (Cake? Where?!) This struggle is exponentially harder when your school’s food is as bomb as the Zoo’s. If you’re like me, you’ll scroll through your social media feeds while nodding in admiration at before-and-after products of miracle workouts, feel inspired for about 6.8 seconds, and then opt for a second helping of pumpkin cheesecake. That being said, here are some kick-butt Instas to scroll through the next time your pants start feeling a little snug. From ballerinas to former US Women’s Rugby players, these fit chicks always have workouts and tips applicable to your own body type, no matter your fitness level or capability.

1. Kayla Itsines @kayla_itsines

Australian gym goddess Kayla Itsines is the creator of BBG (Bikini Body Guide), a fitness program with thousands of followers. Her Insta is loaded with mouth-watering food porn (acai bowls, fruit salads) and über-helpful video clips from her BBG guides. She also posts transformation photos from her followers, and who doesn’t love a good happily-ever-before-and-after post?

2. Tracy Anderson @tracyandersonmethod

Meet personal trainer and pilates guru Tracy Anderson; once you see her abs, you’ll realize why she’s the go-to girl for celebrities like J-Lo, Shakira, and Madonna. She’s got a killer series of workout videos, and her Insta has great mini-fitness clips with incorporations of yoga, pilates, dance, and cardio.

3. Jen Sinkler @jensinkler

Jen’s Insta bio says it all: “personal trainer, fitness writer, kettleballer (RKC-II), power-lifter, sprint-runner, dog snuggler, cupcake lover, former USA rugby player, feminist AF.” On top of her sassy social-media persona, she’s got some really informative instructional videos on lifting, squats, etc. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to follow this woman?!

4. Misty Copeland @mistyonpointe

You’ve probably seen the Under Armour commericals of the fierce ballerina defying rejection and gravity. If not, let us introduce you to Misty Copeland, American Ballet Theater principal dancer and Under Armour Woman of Will. Her Insta is chock-full of motivational quotes, gorgeous action-shots, and graceful pointe combinations. If you aren’t interested in ballet, at least follow for the glittery costumes.

5.  Jennifer Forrester @jenniferforrester

National Academy of Sports Medicine nutrition specialist Jennifer Forrester has a great series of Insta fitness vids, complete with words of encouragement and inspiration, and gorgeous natural backdrops. Honestly, we’d follow her just for the scenic views.

Even if you have absolutely no intention of following through with any of these workouts, at least you’ve got some new Instagram accounts to scroll through on your way to Baby Berk.
