Taylor Dube is a second year Communications and Marketing double major. She loves UMaine because of how friendly everyone on campus is.

“I can’t imagine my college experience without the clubs I am involved in,” says Taylor. She is a proud sister of Alpha Phi Fraternity, a member of the Executive Council of University of Maine Dance Marathon, as well as a part of LiveWell. She also works for the Student Wellness Resource Center. In addition to putting together programs for students about big topics like time management and self-confidence at the Student Wellness Center, Taylor is helping put on UMaine’s 9th annual Healthy High Run today.

If you don’t already know, the Healthy High is a 5k, 10k and 1mile fun run on campus meant to be an alternative to smoking on the “holiday” of 4/20.

“The Healthy High is an amazing way to get involved on campus and a healthy alternative to the events on 4/20. We also have over 1,000 participants that are coming to the race.”

The best part is that you don’t even have to be a runner!

“There’s plenty of things to do rather than run the event! You can volunteer at the event or even just cheer on the runners. We encourage everyone on campus to cheer for the runners the day of the event, they are putting their hard work into this race.”

The race starts at 4:20pm today at the New Balance Recreation Center. You can sign up at racewire.com or at the race for $10.

Stop by the Student Wellness Center any time to see Taylor or any of the fantastic staff like Bud Walkup and Lori Sidelko. “The office has opened my eyes to new ways to be healthy and happy,” Taylor says. She’s sure it will do the same for you.
