25 Things to Do if You’re Staying in Orono this Summer

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Maine chapter.

Orono becomes pretty quiet in the summertime when most of the students go back home. However, some people stay around for various reasons like if they’re taking classes or working. It may seem boring at times because everyone is gone, so here are some things to do if you’re stuck here for the next few months!

  1. Visit the Orono Trampoline Park

  2. Make new friends

  3. Go to wing night at the Roost on Tuesdays

  4. Hangout at the Ave hot tub or the Reserve Pool

  5. Swim in the Stillwater River

  6. Learn how to cook new things

  7. Go to the Orono Bog Boardwalk

  8. Rollerblade around campus

  9. Try eating healthy

  10. Check out the Orono Farmer’s Market (in the Steamplant lot)

  11. Have movie nights with friends

  12. Grill some good food

  13. Hang out at the OHOP bar

  14. Go out for ice cream

  15. Eat brunch outside at the Family Dog

  16. Walk or bike the trails at UMaine

  17. Play some tennis at the courts and find your inner Serena Williams

  18. Work on your summer bod at the Rec Center

  19. Have a drink at the Orono Brewing Company

  20. Play frisbee or some other sport on the Mall

  21. Get some tacos at Margarita’s on Wednesdays (half off for college kids!)

  22. Binge watch a Netflix Series

  23. Read a book

  24. Organize your apartment

  25. Take a trip to Bar Harbor or Acadia
