What Your Ugly Christmas Sweater Says About You

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

It’s finally December: carols are playing on every radio station, blow-up Santas and snowmen decorate the lawns of houses, and the invites for Christmas parties have begun to roll in. As you rummage through thrift shop racks and the back of your closet trying to pick out a sweater, have you ever wondered what your go-to sweater says about you?

A Funny Sweater

Funny Christmas sweaters are a definite conversation starter, as long as your good sense of humor carries over to your sweater. If you wear funny sweaters to your holiday parties, you’re a social butterfly who loves to talk to everybody, as you’ll be approached by friends and strangers alike who want to comment on your sweater.

A Sweater Vest

Ugly sweater vests are just as popular as regualr ugly sweaters, but they help you add even more pizzaz to your outfit. You’re somebody who loves to be festive and loves to be colorful, which you can do with whatever you choose to wear underneath your sweater vest.

Homemade Sweater

Finally, spending time browsing Pinterest instead of studying pays off! You’re creative and can make do with whatever you have in your apartment. You love having original clothing, and something made by you is as original as it gets.

Light-Up Sweater

You’re somebody who loves to be the center of attention, and a light up sweater is your way of showing that to everybody. You also love to go above and beyond—your sweater isn’t just ugly, it’s a show! Pretty sure you’re secretly Buddy the Elf with all that Christmas spirit.

Trendy Sweater

With a trendy Christmas sweater, you’re technically breaking the rules of an ugly Christmas sweater party. But, wearing this sweater shows that you love to look cute and have a great fashion sense. You’re also practical, too—you can wear this for the rest of the season, unlike the traditional ugly Christmas sweater.
