Monthly Music Obsessions: October 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

Would you hate me if I said this month’s music obsessions included a Christmas song? Just kidding! Here are my song picks for this month! Click on the title of the song to listen to it!

Wolves — Selena Gomez and Marshmello

This is the song everyone has been on about this month. Ever since it came out, people haven’t stopped talking about the collaboration between Selena Gomez and Marshmello. I personally really like this song, although I will admit, I wasn’t a fan when I first heard it, and I think it’s one of those songs that you need to hear a few times to get used to it. I find it catchy now and absolutely love it!

How Long — Charlie Puth

Charlie Puth never disappoints. This song is so good. It’s unique, and you can immediately tell that it’s his voice. It gets you going, and personally I find it on the darker side, yet it doesn’t sound dark. Does that make sense? If you haven’t heard it, click on the link now!

Tell Me You Love Me — Demi Lovato

It’s safe to say that Demi Lovato is my absolute queen when it comes to music. She manages to sing the most difficult songs effortlessly and sounds exactly the same live as she does on her albums. This song is gorgeous. She bares her soul to her listeners and there is no doubt that her newest album is going to be fantastic.

Gorgeous — Taylor Swift

How are you guys liking Taylor’s style so far? I’m a fan to be honest. It’s quite refreshing. Again, like Selena Gomez’s new song, this took me awhile to get into, so I wasn’t entirely sure of it at first. But then I listened to it a few times and there you go, Ridhima is addicted. I’m so excited for her new album!

Guilty — Paloma Faith

So Paloma Faith isn’t a very well known artist, but that needs to be changed please. The first song I heard from this artist was “Only Love Can Hurt Like This,” and it was on repeat for two weeks. I clicked on this song not knowing if I’d like, but I was wrong! This song is powerful and kind of wants to make me cry. Check it out!

Anywhere — Rita Ora

Rita Ora’s voice is the definition of smooth. She’s so talented and ever since I followed the X Factor, with her as a judge, I’ve loved her and her music. Check out her other songs as well!

Ridhima Jagtap is a college newbie, a.k.a a freshman, working towards a degree in the field of journalism. You'll often find her chasing after cats and watching adorable cat videos on YouTube. If she's not doing this then she'll be singing her lungs out so that her whole floor can hear her. She hopes to blow people away with writing what she's passionate about. Books, music and a lot of animals!
