Meet my roomate Camilla! We met during orientation, and she became my roomie during the second semester this year. She’s one of my closest friends here at the University of Iowa. She’s super fun, and, most importantly, she’s my pizza buddy. We often have roomie movie nights and also end up going to the gym together. Nothing better than working out with a friend! She’s a kind-hearted girl who’s ready to take on the world and wants to help people with her profession. I’d say that’s very inspiring isn’t it? Scroll down to meet Camilla!

What is your favorite thing about Italy?
I like how Italy is full of history and never boring. Wherever you are you can always find interesting historical sites. I love Italy because it’s where I grew up, and it will always be special. I have so many memories there, and it’s always great to go back home.
What made you choose engineering?
I chose engineering because I have always been very passionate about science. I’ve also always wanted to help people, so I decided to study biomedical engineering to have the best of both worlds
What’s the best holiday you’ve been on?
My favorite holiday was when I went to London with my friends for a studying trip, and it was the first time that I traveled alone. We did sightseeing, and overall it was so much fun.
If you could give advice to yourself before you started college, what would you say?
Don’t worry so much, and don’t overthink everything. Do what you love and have lots of fun because college is going to go by very fast. It’ll be over before you know it!
What’s the engineering community like?
In engineering we are all like a big family. Every day after classes a lot of students meet at the engineering building to study, eat, chat and have fun together. It’s a hard and challenging major, but the friends that I have made in engineering definitely make it easier.
Which instruments do you play, and which one do you like the best?
I play the snare drums, the guitar and piano. I think my favorite is the drums because I can just relieve all the stress that I accumulate during the week.
Where do you see yourself five years from now?
In five years, I would like to be a prosthetics engineer. I would be building better prosthetics for people who need it and support them by helping them adapt. I would love to have two dogs, and I would like to settle down in America somewhere. I’m not entirely sure yet, but I’ll see what life gives me.
