Meet Ashten Sherman, Daum RA & Biomedical Engineering Major

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

I met Ashten for the first time in the fall semester of my freshman year at Iowa! She was the RA of my floor (shout-out to my fellow 5th-floor Daumies!) and definitely helped make my freshman experiences better. She’s very encouraging and always had something cool planned for the residents of her floor. Now that I no longer live in Daum, I really miss seeing her every day!

Hometown: Le Claire, IA

Major: Biomedical Engineering

Why did you want to be an RA?

I wanted the opportunity to help others have the best college experience possible.

What is your favorite memory from nearly two years of being an RA?

Getting to know all the amazing, diverse and unique stories of my residents lives and watching them progress into the amazing people they are.

What else are you involved with on campus?

National Residence Hall Honorary, UIHC volunteering and UIHC research.

What is your dream job?

I would like to either be an oncologist or cardiologist.

Favorite study spot on campus?

Anywhere with good coffee and sunlight!

What is a hobby or interest that people would be surprised to learn you love?

I love writing stories and painting. It helps me de-stress!

Thanks so much for taking the time to talk with me, Ashten!
