We all dread the day when we look at our final exam and realize we can’t remember anything.
We’re going to wish we’d studied more during the semester, we’re going cram to remember everything our professor has ever said, and we’re going to pray that everyone else studied less than us so that the curve will be in our favor. The stress of finals is starting to set in, but here are some tips to make these next few weeks a little easier.
1.) Exercise
Hitting the gym is guaranteed to make you feel better. Take a study break and get a workout in. Lifting weights or going on a run will help you relax and clear your mind before you head back to the library.
2.) Eat healthy
Time is precious during finals week and when you’re studying 24/7 it’s easier to grab something quick and easy to eat. But this will only make you feel worse. Make sure to take time to prepare healthy foods these next couple of weeks. If you need something quick Pita Pit offers low carb, low calorie sandwiches.
3.) Get fresh air
Even if just for a couple of minutes. Take a walk around the block to reenergize yourself.
4.) Find hidden places to study
Sometimes the library just gets too crowded. Try and find low key study spots. Lots of buildings are open for studying including Van Allen Hall, the IMU, and the law library.
5.) Try meditation
If you wake up in the morning totally stressed out try using the app Stop, Breathe, Think. It’s a free, guided meditation app that offers meditations tailored to your personal emotions. After just 5 minutes you’ll be ready to face all of the stress that comes along with finals.
6.) Get enough rest
If you’re getting too stressed you might need to rest up a little bit. Make sure to get enough sleep at night so you’re refreshed and ready to take on your exams.
7.) Reward yourself
Treat yourself. Chocolate therapy works every time.
8.) Pace yourself
Don’t sit down to study for 14 hours straight, because chances are you’ll never make it through. Get a cup of coffee and set small goals for yourself so you’re not completely overwhelmed.
