Christmas break is approaching and that means two things: finals and freedom. What better way to procrastinate studying for your exams than by starting to plan a holiday party with your friends from home that you haven’t seen all semester?
We’ve put together some great holiday themed party ideas to help you ring in the Christmas holiday and upcoming New Year the right way.
1. White Christmas
Everybody’s dreaming of a white Christmas, and this year you can make it happen. Everybody is required to dress in all white. And yes ladies, even though it’s past Labor Day, you’re allowed to wear white bottoms. Get creative!
2. Christmas Costume Bar Crawl
For a new, fun bar crawl idea, dress up in Christmas costumes like Santa, Mrs. Clause, elves, etc., or dress up as your favorite Christmas movie characters for a bar crawl. Fun outfit ideas include Buddy the Elf, the Grinch, Cindy Lou Who, Ralphie and Frosty the Snowman.
3. Christmas Carol Karaoke
Grab eggnog, hot chocolate or some holiday drinks and turn on your favorite Christmas tunes. We all know the lyrics to songs like Jingle Bells and Baby All I Want For Christmas Is You and singing along with a few drinks and cookies would be a perfect way to get into the holiday spirit.
4. Re-Gift Exchange
Looking to do a gift exchange with your friends, but not really wanting to spend more money? Wondering what to do with all the gifts from last Christmas that you still haven’t touched? Host a re-gift exchange with your friends to knock out both in one! Have everybody bring an old gift they don’t have use for and put it in the gift exchange. As they say, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
5. Ugly Christmas Sweater Party
We’ve all attended an ugly Christmas sweater party before and we have to admit – they’re hilarious. Asking your mom, aunt or grandma for an “ugly” sweater to borrow sure makes for a lot of defensive comments towards their sweater collection. Regardless of how common it is, this themed party idea remains on our list. Make the party extra interesting by making it a competition. Have everyone at the party cast a vote on whose sweater was indeed the ugliest. Winner gets a prize!
