4 Tips To Help You Finish The School Year Off Strong

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Iowa chapter.

It’s that time in the semester when we are all scrambling to tie loose ends and get our brains in check. It’s been a stressful year to say the least, and I’m sure many of you are nodding your heads in agreement while you’re reading this. However, I guess now is the time when you have to power through, just like the Flash. Here are some tips to help you finish the school year strong.

1. It’s alright to say NO (maybe just a little nicer than Michael Scott…)

Whether you’re taking 20+ credit hours or 15, you’re still a college student. You’re allowed to have a crappy day, and that is totally alright. Sometimes you have those days when you need to watch a good movie that’ll make you cry to let all that stress out. It is also okay to say no to people when they ask you to hang out, since you need your “me-time” to check in with yourself. Sometimes it can be difficult to say no to your friends, but it’s also the best to put yourself first.

2. Your beauty sleep is a necessity

Get sleep! I know it can be really annoying to hear those long lectures from your mother (sorry mum) telling you to sleep on time and get those beauty hours in, but she’s not wrong! If you have a habit of sleeping at two or three in the morning, try sleeping a little earlier, and you’ll see a massive difference. Either way, whatever time you sleep at, make sure you get at least seven hours in. Not only will you be able to wake up fresh, but you’ll sense a change in your mental health. You’re bound to be more efficient that way! I promise.

3. FOOD, FOOD, FOOD!

Let’s be honest, sometimes we have so much going on that we actually forget to eat. Don’t skip meals, because then you’ll just end up feeling weak and you won’t be able to concentrate in your classes. I’d like to think you can eat whatever your heart desires, as long as you keep your habits in check. Go for the junk food, but also make sure you are getting your veggies in as well. A balanced diet, a balanced you!

4. Don’t fret, summer is on it’s way

And the main thing that I want all of you lovely readers to drill into your heads is to remember that summer is only a few weeks away. You’re going to do such an awesome job, because you are a strong and independent woman who can do anything if they you put your mind to it. Don’t be upset if things aren’t going your way right now. Doing well in your exams and enjoying the last few weeks of school is what you should be focusing on right now. And before you know it, you’ll be somewhere sunny, lying on the sand getting your summer tan on.

Good luck!
