How to ask for help, by a student like you

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

So you’re feeling stressed and it feels like more and more just keeps piling onto your shoulders. First and foremost, YOU CAN DO THIS. Here is how, in a few simple steps.

1. Relax! It’s so easy to be your own worst enemy when you overthink about all that you have to do and all of your responsibilities.

2. Find someone you can confide in.  Maybe it’s a coworker, friend, or a parent. Another option is a mentor on campus.  There are plenty of programs you can join to have some help along the way.

3. The Academic Achievement Center is your best friend. The staff wants you to succeed and will get into the nitty gritty things that must be done such as planning your days and how to time manage.

4. Professors are great resources. They know being a student better than any of us do, so do yourself a favor and visit some office hours.

5. Take a trip to the library. Trust me it makes a difference not doing homework in your dorm.

6. None of these steps will work if you don’t admit you need help. Getting a little help will only benefit you, it’s not shameful to need it, there are always people around to help if you ask.

Good luck to each and every one of you, may the odds be ever in your favor.
