Bored in CT Over the Summer? Try These Spots!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

Even though of some of us may still be as swamped as we were in the school year, there’s always time to go for a drink or dance the night away with some friends. Connecticut may not have as many ‘go to’ places as New York, but it does have some worthy venues.

Crave – Farifield

If you find yourself coming back from Jennings/Penfield beach this is an ideal spot to try. It offers a large cocktail list, long bar and has pretty good food. The dining area closes at 9 to make way for it’s bar atmosphere.

Rooftop 120 – Glastonbury

Known for being one of the largest rooftop bars in New England, Rooftop 120 doesn’t fail to deliver.  It features outdoor lounges with fire pits, live music, and not to mention, it’s Zagot rated.

Shrine – Foxwoods

The ideal time to go to this flashy spot is on a Tuesday. Not only is it ranked in the Top 100 nightclubs in the world, but it takes on an Asian flair. Afterwards you have the opportunity to gamble at the casino and get a quick bite at Johnny Rockets.

66 Church – Naugatuck

This bar just opened up in May of 2015 and it’s already received some recognition. It resembles a log rustic cabin and features an enormogus jenga set that the crowds seem to love. Tuesday’s seem to be the day to go, having $2 mini tacos, $2 beers, 53 oz margartias and karaoke.

Bar – New Haven

Not only is it it known to have some of the best pizza in New Haven, but one of the best nighclubs, too. The bar features a hipster, industrial look downstairs and a modern, bright look upstairs. The wait is long (expect 1.5+ hours on a Saturday) so plan accordingly.

Pavilion – Old Lyme

If you’ve been searching for a beach bar, look no further. This bar is not only steps from the beach, but features live music, an extensive list of drinks and bucket size drinks. They also have unique variations (some having popsicle sticks).

Grab some friends, get dressed up, and go on a little adventure to these hot spots the next time you’re stuck at home with nothing to do!
