Blake Lively to shut down ‘Preserve’ website

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

On October 9th, Blake Lively will be shutting down her lifestyle website Preserve. The 28 year old actress and new mother to 8 month old daughter James Reynolds realized that there is too much to juggle right now with her baby and the two movies she is currently filming.

Preserve was launched in July of 2014 and over the past year, Lively has realized that the website went public before she was ready. Her initial purpose of the lifestyle website was to create a space where readers could gather and connect through stories, experiences, and products that Lively and her team agreed upon. The former Gossip Girl actress claims that she wishes she had waited a little longer to launch the website because it is now veering away from its original purpose, which was to change people’s lives.

But don’t worry! Lively has big plans for the future and wants Preserve to eventually come back stronger and more powerful. In an interview, Lively told Vogue, “I’m going to take this hit, and the only way I can prove all the negative reactions wrong is to come back with a plan that will rock people. And I have that plan. And I’m so excited about it, and that’s what gave me the courage to do this, to say, ‘You know what, I’m going to give myself one more shot at this, and I really have to do it as well as I can do it this time.”

So,  Blake Lively admirers can be expecting some big news at some point in the future. And in the meantime, go check out the Preserve mega sale going on before the site officially shuts down October 9th!
