10 Times the Women of Grey’s Anatomy Gave You Strength

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Conn chapter.

As some may know, season 12 of Grey’s Anatomy premiered this past Thursday night. We marked our calendars, counted down the days, and maybe even threw darts at a picture of Shonda Rhime’s face. Alas, the day is finally here, and to celebrate the start of another wonderful, heart-shattering season, here’s 10 moments where the spectacular women of Grey-Sloan Memorial gave you some great advice for living your best life.

1.  It’s a dog eat dog world, baby.

It’s Cristina Yang’s world and we’re just livin’ in it. Be unstoppable

2.  Tell the people you love how you really feel.

Be brave and declare your feelings – declare your intentions. Tell the people you love them before it’s too late. ~RIP Derek Shepherd~

3.  Let go of the things you can’t change.

Hey, what Bailey says goes: you can’t change the past, but you can definitely control your future.

4.  “Be extraordinary.”

Enter: Ellis Grey – reminding us that even if we have days where we feel average or ordinary, we are really anything but.

5.  Brains > Beauty

As Ashton Kutcher once said, “The sexiest thing in the entire world – is being really smart.”

6.  Existing is not the same thing as living.

Plain and simple – create a life you love and then live it.

7.  We love who we love.

We can’t control how we feel – it’s carnal and biological. Love is love and that’s the end of it.

8.  BUT, YOU ARE THE SUN.

While, yes, we should love who we love, we should also learn to put ourselves at first priority – our needs, our wants, our goals.

9. Go with your gut.

According to Callie Torres, we should trust our instincts, and maybe not think so much. Things have a way of working themselves out, especially when it comes to your own happiness.

10. Learn to love yourself.

Forget everyone else – if you love you, then nothing else matters.

Thanks, ladies! See you next Thursday!
