Transitional Clothes for the Spring!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at U Chicago chapter.

It’s spring quarter, and temperatures are still not quite spring-y. Though winter seemed endless, chances are that we’ll have some weird weather—really cold days followed by beautiful sunny ones. While you might not want to put away your snow boots yet, here are some great pieces to wear during this transitional weather.

1.      Invest in a good trench coat. It’ll serve you well when it’s raining out, and it pulls double duty for when it’s not quite cold enough for that peacoat, but not warm enough for a light jacket.

2.      Sturdy rainboots are a must for Chicago in the spring. The majority of the snow has finally melted, but we can still expect a lot of rainy days, so be sure to get a good pair that won’t crack.

3.      Warm cardigans are great for layering over sundresses on days when the temperature fluctuates a lot. After being bundled up all winter, we’re all dying to take our floral prints out on the town, but stay warm with a bulkier cardigan, or get one in a warmer material, like wool.

4.      A bright, colorful blazer is incredibly versatile and worth investing in. It’ll add a pop of color to any outfit, and serves as a good layering piece, so you can wear it year round. It’s formal enough to wear to your summer internship, too!

5.      A good pair of leather flats are wonderful for the sunny days to come—they’ll keep your feet warmer than sandals, but they’re more feminine than your chunky boots.

These are just a few of our suggestions, add your own in the comments!
