NWA Fashion Week: Another Successful Year

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Arkansas chapter.

My second year going to NWA Fashion was magical. It was a way for me to meet new people, which I love to do, dress in my chicest clothes and have fun.

The event was carefully planned to please the eyes of the attendees. The first night was at the amazing 21c Museum Hotel in Bentonville. This hotel’s funky and classy theme fit perfectly with the designer night of fashion week. The beautiful models wore designs from local NWA designers and the University of Arkansas Apparel Studies student designers. The night ended with an exciting after party with the very satisfied guests. There was dancing, drinking, picture taking like no one’s business, and just pure happiness.

Friday night’s show was at the Old Daily Record Building, which had a perfect set-up. When I walked into the building, my mouth dropped in awe because it looked like a scene out of a movie.  It made me feel special because I could attend such a well planned event. When the show finally started, the energy was high and people were dancing in their chairs while watching the models strut. The boutique owner’s coordinated outfits that reflected the uniqueness of their shops.

The last night was bittersweet for me. It was bitter because the fun nights of me escaping reality was coming to an end and sweet because I could finally stop wearing the most uncomfortable heels! Like the previous nights the energy was high and the people were joyful and the fashion was astonishing. Luckily for me, the first show was Brits and Turks and the first model was shirtless and had a glowing tan. It was a beautiful sight paired with upbeat background music. After the last show, most of the guests moved into the area next to the runway designated for the after party. The party was a combination of the models, guest, designers, event team members, and more. From oldies to recent party songs, everyone was dancing and having a blast. It was like no one wanted the night to end after another successful year of fashion week in our area.

It is over now, but I can only be excited for how great next year’s fashion week will be. Going to NWA Fashion Week means a lot to me because it prepares me for the world of fashion. I loved seeing people show their true colors and be creative with their makeup and outfits. Also, it was nice to see how the process came along and how much support it receives. The most important part is that the event got people excited to support local causes. It shows the importance of growth in our community we call Northwest Arkansas.  And why not have a little fun while giving back?
