You see that up there? That’s Youtuber Britney Kamalani and her review of what even she claims to be the “most popular” website for purchasing new glasses frames and sunglasses. If you know about Mertin’s Eye Care and Optical on Garland, you’ll know that they have a million and three pairs of lenses lined up on their walls and, well, it’s generally the Fayetteville go-to. It’s right next to food and retail and it’s accessible by foot. I love Mertin’s for my exams, but I ran into a teensy-weensy little issue when I told them that I wanted a new pair of glasses with glare-resistance and anti-scratch lenses. They came back at me with a pretty total that was upwards of $600 and I had a heart attack. Seriously, it’s a miracle that I’m alive right now.
I’m a student. I can’t pay for that nonsense alone.
I watched Britney’s review after having already glanced at EyeBuyDirect’s website. Comparing their frames with the frames of eye care facilities…I literally do not understand how anyone would want to look anywhere else. Their frames are cheap, guys – and cheap doesn’t mean “poor quality”. It means not bending to the big business agenda that wants to take half a year’s wages and your left foot for a pair of freggin’ glasses. My contacts fall out and I’ve forgotten to wear another pair, my eyes are irritated, be what it may. I usually end up wearing my glasses at least three or four days out of the month, but that’s enough to be sick of them hurting my face because they’re too small, the prescription isn’t right and they’re scratched to hell.
