Staff Interview with Margaret Stolte

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

Special talents: I can put both feet behind my head and can do really good impressions of the kids I work with.

What is your spirit animal: “I’m Like a Bird” by Nelly Furtado perfectly describes my spirit animal. I love art, tattoos, anything having to do with birds.  My life is like the episode of  Portlandia, “Put a Bird on It.”

Favorite foods: I love carbohydrates; it’s a serious problem.  I love muffins and culturally ethnic foods, too, especially restaurants with true NOLA cuisine, I also love Indian food.  My brother used to work at Indian restaurant and he would bring home leftovers and I would eat it all between the hours of 12 and 1 AM.  Also anything my grandma makes.

Most interesting thing you’ve ever done: When my band played at LouFest, I looked around and could see the Flaming Lips and all these other bands I looked up to.  It was a really cool moment.

Favorite quote: “No” —Rosa Parks

Dream job: I have a couple.  My first option is that I want to work in the music business at a record company and climb up to CEO.   My second dream job is to start my own summer camp (probably in Utah) with music and art therapy for kids who need it.   During the year I would tour with my own rinky dinky band and somehow make a living out of all of this. I’ve accepted that I won’t have same career for more than 5 years.  I also enjoy music, journalism, and art.  Basically anything where I get to make art, music, or help people!

Favorite part about being a Tulane student? Being able to be a multi-faceted student and have that not be weird. I can be involved in more than one thing and I think it’s awesome that so many people have that option.

Favorite show? I’ve seen every season of The Office more than 4 times. My life is The Office.  I’ve been trying to get the world reigning champ of QuizUp to try and play me the past 3 days but he won’t.  I’m working on it.

What is your primary role in Her Campus: To make jokes, provide comedic relief, and push the boundaries of what is appropriate and inappropriate.  I used to write  DIY articles and now I do music related articles and run social media.  Follow us on Instagram #gramlife

If you could describe yourself in one word what would it be: In 4th grade everyone in my class had to choose one word to describe themselves.  Everyone else took 10 minutes to choose and I took two hours.  My teacher told me I finally had to choose and I chose ricochet. Back then I had no idea what it meant, but I still think it holds true to who I am.

Favorite restaurant: The best burger I ever had was at Cowbell, so I’d say that’s my favorite restaurant so far.

What is one thing you want to do at Tulane that you haven’t done: I want to go to the Boot completely sober and out dance every person there and have someone by my side who’s exactly on my level.  Anyone out there who’s like that HMU.
