Candace the Munchie Monster: Chicken Lettuce Wraps

By Candace Chuck
January 25, 2012 - 1:19pm

Welcome back to school everyone! It’s quite difficult to narrow down a recipe that for me exemplifies the welcoming aspect of coming back to school, but coincidentally enough it also happens to be Chinese New Year! It’s the year of the dragon (which is awesome) but more importantly there also happens to be a great influx in recipes celebrating delicious Chinese food. Growing up, my father and I have always taken great care to make sure that the delicacies that appear around this time of year are present in the house (similar to how king cake only appears around Mardi Gras- only more reason to stock up). So, when coming across this recipe, I felt it was only necessary to share its awesomeness with the world....

Dorm Raiders: Sweet & Simple

By Rebecca Shinners
December 23, 2011 - 8:46am

About the Dorm
You’ve probably heard of JL by now—that dreaded all girls freshman dorm that’s known for being far away from everything, quit, and did I mention all girls? Well, believe it or not JL does have it’s benefits—it’s right by the boot, it’s a great place to study, and if you get stuck here, you’re bound to bond with your hallmates about how upset you were when you found out your dorm assignment. But Brennah is here to tell us why she actually wanted to be placed in JL and why she continues to love it.

Candace the Munchie Monster: Dairy Free Eggnog & Green Tree Jello Shots for Post-Finals

By Candace Chuck
December 13, 2011 - 5:48pm

My roommate loves eggnog. Although I’m not a huge fan, I did discover a lovely recipe for dairy-free
eggnog that you can not only make from scratch, but then also drink over the course of the next week
(it’ll help relieve stress from finals, I swear). It’s dairy free so that it’ll give vegan readers the opportunity
to make something delicious. On the other hand, once finals are over I’ve located this great jello shot
recipe (it’s not only green, but in the shape of a Christmas tree). If you can find the mold, it’s totally
worth it, otherwise a Christmas themed jello shot is bound to lift everyone’s spirit after finals and get
them excited for the most wonderful time of the year!...

Music to My Ears: From my room, a warm lineup

By JoEllen Johnson
December 11, 2011 - 7:05pm

As much as I love warm, sunny afternoons, cold days remind me of all the fun stuff associated with winter and the indoors, like no school, lots of food, immense amounts of free time, and (of course) the holidays. That’s why, when the weather here in New Orleans took a turn downward, I was pleased to actually have an excuse to sit in my room and research new songs that have just been released, with all the time in the world at my disposal (okay, that’s actually a lie since we are right dab in the middle of finals week). Either way, this is the (awesome!!) lineup I have picked out from the comfort of my warm room to be enjoyed by all: READ MORE

Dorm Raiders: How to Study-Proof Your Room!

By Rebecca Shinners
December 8, 2011 - 1:18pm

Classes are ending, textbooks are being opened…
Let me guess, you’ve noticed an insane amount of students battling it out for a computer at PJs while you innocently stood on line waiting for your coffee. Maybe you’ve tried to find an empty table at Howie T…first floor…second floor…third floor…maybe forth floor…nothing?! Off to that b-school breakout room. All full? Try the LBC? Ugh, people are being loud and eating at the table right next to you! If this study frustration seems familiar to you, it may be time you resort back to the very place you were trying to avoid on the mission to read your whole textbook or finally start that 12 page paper—your dorm room! Dorm raiders is here to show you how

Candace the Munchie Monster: Stovetop Smoked Gouda Macaroni and Cheese

By Candace Chuck
December 7, 2011 - 10:52am

I honestly don’t think I could ever be vegan. My love for cheese and ice cream is pretty undefeatable. It’s
also pretty easy to say that one of my favorite comfort foods in macaroni & cheese. It’s got everything
you would ever need- cream, cheese and pasta. It’s perfect for a cold day, or when you need to whip
up something quickly since finals are rolling around. If you really haven’t got the time I’d recommend
Annie’s microwaveable white cheddar easy mac. When I discovered this recipe I knew it was meant to
be. It’s simple but mouthwateringly delicious and even contains curly pasta which manages to capture
more gooey cheese. The addition of smoked Gouda and pepper jack cheese instead of a simple cheddar

Focus on… Fashion Shoots

By Megan Lehr
December 6, 2011 - 12:04am

This is going to be the first of a series of “how to shoot different kinds of photography”, like weddings, family group shots, surfing shots, portraits etc. Here’s to kicking it off with Fashion Shoots. Recently, New Orleans had its second New Orleans Fashion Week, and HerCampus was fortunate to be able to get seats and talk to the designers and take photos. It was a very unique and different experience from the perspective of the being the photographer. I encountered challenges that are unique to the runway and I had a blast. READ MORE

Music to My Ears: Let's get Pumped Up!

By JoEllen Johnson
December 5, 2011 - 11:47pm

With finals coming up, we are going to need all the energy we can get. This week’s lineup features five pumped up songs that will be sure to pump you up. 1) I Like It Like That (feat. New Boyz) – Hot Chelle Rae
Okay, this is not a new release, but “I Like it Like That” puts me in a good mood and gives me a HUGE energy boost. During finals week and staying up until the wee hours of the morning, I do not need any slow, depressing songs (and I bet you don’t either!) so definitely give this song a go. READ MORE
