Music to My Ears: The Spring Break Soundtrack

By JoEllen Johnson
March 5, 2012 - 11:01am

Is anyone else in as much disbelief as I am that it is now time for Spring Break?!  Compared to last semester, these past couple of months have flown by.  Of course, over Spring Break I have summer study abroad applications to fill out and a paper to write, but nonetheless I am going to make it an absolute priority to have fun this break! Enjoy these 5 songs I picked out this week especially for you, collegiates! READ MORE

Hangovers Ana Roll

By Ana Lacher
March 4, 2012 - 3:33pm

They happen to the best of us. For some they happen every weekend and for others they’re a rare occurrence. Either way, hangovers happen and on most occasions they’re the worst feeling in the world. You wake up with your head pounding, a dry mouth, and a very strong possibility of throwing up. Some make a run for it, others head to the fridge for a combination of water and Powerade, and then there are those who close their eyes and roll over avoiding the dilemma entirely.

Dorm Raiders: Top Picks for Spring

By Rebecca Shinners
March 1, 2012 - 10:00pm

Over the past few day’s something’s been different about Tulane. Whether it’s the sudden amount of bare legs (in shorts!) you’ve spotted sitting in Richardson, or the sunbathers you had to step over to cut through the quad, it’s starting to finally, actually feel like spring! Break out your high-wasted lace shorts and flowered sundresses—here at Tulane we never know when it’ll randomly be too cold to wear them again. We all did come to New Orleans for the beautiful weather after all. When you’re getting into the spring mood, why should your dorm miss out? READ MORE

Candace the Munchie Monster: Peppermint Patties

By Candace Chuck
February 29, 2012 - 3:48pm

Even if you’re not a sweets person, you’ve bound to like York Peppermint Patties. I especially love the Valentine’s day Peppermint Patties--they're heart shaped, and have a light pink mint filling (which I personally find the best part). When I came across this recipe of do-it-yourself peppermint patties that are not only gluten and sugar free but also vegan and high in protein, I knew that it was meant to be. It’s a fun, healthy way to save money on candy and still have it in bulk. READ MORE

Music to My Ears: Upbeat, Get on Your Feet!

By JoEllen Johnson
February 28, 2012 - 10:29pm

Start the week off right with these five upbeat songs! 1. Sunday Driving – Max Frost (feat. Kydd)
I love this song.  The best part about it is that one of my freshman year friends (who decided to move to LA last year) actually produced this song and music video!  This artist is still relatively unknown, but with tracks like this, I’m sure he will soon come out of hiding. READ MORE

Candace the Munchie Monster: Frosted Sugar Cookies

By Candace Chuck
February 23, 2012 - 10:15am

I always expect packages of Lofthouse cookies to last me longer than for the 2 hours after I buy them. They’re deceptively delicious, with amazing frosting that I eat even though I don’t even like frosting a large majority of the time! They can solve any problem and can be eaten for any meal, breakfast, lunch, dinner, maybe even brunch. While they can be found in most drugstores, here’s a recipe to emulate the deliciousness of the perfect ratio of frosting to cakey cookie! READ MORE

Music to My Ears: Let's Workout-The Gym Playlist

By JoEllen Johnson
February 22, 2012 - 4:03pm

With spring break approaching in just a couple of weeks, it’s time that I start hitting the gym!  Of course, I’m the kind of girl who needs really good music to listen to get me motivated (sad, isn’t it?), so I am constantly changing out my playlist to help me stay pumped while endlessly riding on the elliptical.  This week, I am obsessed with these five songs:

 1. Let It Be – The Beatles

Candace the Munchie Monster: Heart Shaped Churros

By Candace Chuck
February 16, 2012 - 4:59pm

Happy Valentines Day!! To all of those who are also desperately studying for exams before the festivities of Mardi Gras, good luck!! I have never known anybody to not like churros. If you’re healthy and don’t eat friend things it doesn’t mean you don’t  like churros, you just don’t like what happens after you’re done eating them. However, once I came across this recipe for heart-shaped churros, I just knew that I had to share them!! READ MORE

Valentine’s Day Ana Roll

By Ana Lacher
February 15, 2012 - 2:47pm

Today is February 14, also known as Valentine’s Day--the Hallmark holiday that allows couples to be extra adorable and singles to be extra angry about the fact that they’re single. I’m not here to hate on Valentine’s Day and talk about how much I hate it. In fact, I love Valentine’s Day. Parents (including mine) send care packages filled with candy and cards, and if you’re lucky, you too reap the benefits. Boyfriends bend over backwards in order to find the perfect card or have the best evening, allowing us onlookers to admire his devotion.
