Coming back as a sophomore, I definitely was not excited to come back to campus dining. After being home for almost 3 months, I was used to home cooked meals and going out for family dinners. The thought of Bruff, Byblos, and Le Gourmet 12 times a week made me very nervous. However, Tulane got a lot of new upgrades this year that make eating on campus a lot better!
For one, PJ’s is no longer the only option for coffee…because…..WE GOT STARBUCKS!!! Well, Loyola got Starbucks, so we pretty much did too. Located in the center right near Luff is the heavenly Starbucks. And it gets better. They take WaveBucks! Now you don’t need to go to PJ’s when you’re hungover or falling asleep in class…
- Pros? to this are obvious, it’s Starbucks and you can use wave bucks.
- Cons? Loyola is kind of a far walk and it is kind of expensive. Note to Tulane: Dunkin Donuts please.
We also got a waffle truck on campus. Yup. A waffle truck. Located on Freret and McCalister you can now get your waffle when you are running late to class and don’t have time to Bruff. Ironsides Waffle Truck has both sweet and savory waffles and goes from 9 AM to 2 PM every Tuesday and Wednesday.
- Pros? are obvious. Who doesn’t love waffles?
- Cons? Everyone knows Freret and McCalister isn’t really the place you want to enjoy a waffle…and waffles everyday sure aren’t healthy. But hey, I’m not actually complaining!
Here’s something I have mixed feelings about. As you guys know from my article last year, I am a huge fan of La Divina. Loyola has now replaced that with Slice Pizzeria. Slice is absolutely delicious, and even though I loved La Divina I am very excited to have Slice!
- Pros? Who doesn’t love pizza? And salads? And calzones?
- Cons? No La Divina. :(
