Keeping Up With Klasswork

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

When you’re studying for a test, it can be easy to get overwhelmed.

But there are research proven study tips that can help all that! Psychological studies have shown that certain forms of ‘encoding’ (the way the brain transfers memories to long-term storage) can help you remember things more easily.

  1. Sometimes associations can store memories in multiple places, making it easier to retrieve them later. Find things that remind you of the material.

  1. When studying it actually pays to be self-centered. Our brains store information more strongly if we think it pertains to our own lives.

  1. If you need to remember certain vocabulary for test questions or essays, re-reading your notes right before your exam will actually ‘prime’ the words, making it more likely you will naturally use them while writing.

So now instead of feeling like this when a test comes up:

You can feel good because you know how to study successfully!
