Dinika Singh is an inspiration to all of us at Tulane. She hails from the beautiful city of Santa Rosa, California and is part of the class of 2018. She is here double majoring in Biomedical Engineering and Dance and involved in IATU, Newcomb Dance Company, Society of Tulane Engineers, Society of Woman Engineers, a brother of Phi Sigma Pi, a DSC in Greenbaum, works in the neuromicroengineering lab,and she teaches a design class in Ben Frankling High School. Dinika has it all: beauty, brains, and a humble personality. When asked if she would like to be the campus celebrity, she responded, “Hahaha I’m loling because I’m so far from a “celeb,” but always glad to help you. Anytime.”
Freshman dorm GreenbaumFavorite Tulane memory I think my favorite Tulane memory is performing for the Indian Culture show Masala last spring. It was the first time I performed and I felt so loved and have so much fun. It was a great bonding experience.Quirkiest trait I make a squeaky noise when my friends ask me for Calculus help.Favorite place on campus? The Dance studios because when I go there for class they’re so full of life and sometimes when you’re there during sunset the sun will stream through the windows and it’s really nice to be there.Who’s your role model and why? My parents are my role models because they immigrated form South Africa, and I really admire my parents because it took them a lot to do that, and we are the only members of my family who live here, and I admire the sacrifices they made so that we can have a better life.Favorite quote “I am my art” It speaks to me because of dance.Advice for your past self: I would tell my past self to chill just a little bit not too much chill but a little bit of chill and don’t be afraid to be as rude as you are.
Favorite campus involvement: Neuromicroengineering lab. I just started it and I think I’m just becoming more and more of a nerd because I really enjoy getting to play with all of the equipment and everyone in the lab is really cool, and chill, and lax.
