5 Tips For Looking Cool In The Heat

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tulane chapter.

This is how I felt when I realized it was mid October:

Suddenly autumn is here and as New York Fashion Week reminded us, fall fashion season is upon us! However, in classic New Orleans fashion, it is a billion degrees with a thousand percent humidity. This makes sweater weather a little difficult. Something just doesn’t feel quite right about drinking Pumpkin Spice Lattes while wearing flip flops, so here is a little guide to fall fashion in warm weather…

  1. Switch to darker colors. Greens, browns, reds, and even darker blues will definitely make your outfit seem more seasonal.

  1. Changing up your shoe game is a great idea too. Changing from flip flops to flats and boots will make you begin to feel a lot less summer-y.

  1. Sweaters and leggings are the traditional autumn uniform of most college girls. You can still rock them when it’s hot out, just not necessarily together. Throw on a sweater with shorts or a dress, and pair with a comfy tee shirt with your favorite leggings.

  1. Even little things like switching up your earrings or nail polish can make a huge difference. Put away your neon yellows or baby blues and replace them with burgundy or emerald

5. If all else fails… pull a Coco Chanel and just wear black. It works for every occasion.

I hope this helps all my ladies out! Enjoy your falling leaves, carved pumpkins, and spiced drinks.
