Six Ways to Transform your Winter Wardrobe for Springtime

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

After what seemed like a never-ending winter, spring is finally beginning to show its face on our campus. The days are longer, the birds are chirping, and meanwhile collegiettes everywhere are desperately staring at their closets, trying to figure out which outfit will match the crazy spring weather. Ever feel like when spring rolls around you have nothing to wear? Here are 6 easy ways to transition your winter wardrobe into one for spring.

Goodbye Winter Staples!

The easiest way to swap your wardrobe from winter to spring is to substitute traditional winter items with spring alternatives. Instead of wearing your clunky winter boots, try out a pair of cute bootie heels. Swap out your knit scarf for a silk shawl. Wear a crochet headband instead of your fuzzy beanie. Rock a long trench instead of a puffy winter jacket. The options are endless!

Layering

It’s tempting to immediately break out breezy spring dresses, shorts, and rompers at the first sight of sun. Instead, introduce your spring items slowly— a short sleeve tee here, a bit of bare ankle there. Layering is the easiest way to begin the transition into spring while still staying warm. Cover that floral tank with a pastel cardigan for a soft, feminine look or throw on a leather jacket for some edge.

Patterns Patterns Patterns

A great way to add interest into your wardrobe is by playing with patterns. Spring is an especially great time to mix and match. Layering gives you the option to pair stripes with floral, plaid with a graphic tee, or any other combination you fancy!

Ditch the Dark

What’s with winter being the season of dark, dreary colors anyway? Out with the black, navy, maroon, and in with the pastels, creams, and blushes. Swap your winter coat for a pretty blazer and your vampy lipstick for bubblegum pink gloss. Adding a pop of color to your wardrobe is a sure way to jump into spring.

Accessories

With the amounts of hats, scarves, gloves and coats we pile on during winter months, it’s easy to leave our accessories neglected. Spring is the perfect time to reintroduce those pieces back into your wardrobe. Bright statement necklaces are perfect for adding an eye-catching pop of color, and there is no better confidence booster than a bold pair of sunglasses to shield out the spring sunshine.

Pretty Pedis, Marvelous Manis

One of the simplest ways to add spring into your wardrobe is through nail polish! Pastels are the perfect color for a lovely manicure, and bright pinks and yellows on the toes scream sunshine.

There you have it! Turning your winter wardrobe into one suitable for spring is super easy and fun too. Bringing bright colors and light jackets back into your wardrobe will make you remember how much you love spring. Can’t wait to see all of the adorable outfits you create!
