President of Planned Parenthood Cecile Richards is Coming to Tufts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Tufts chapter.

As part of their Distinguished Speaker Series, the Jonathan M. Tisch College of Civic life is teaming up with Tufts Hillel to host Cecile Richards, president of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. Planned Parenthood is the largest single provider of reproductive health services in the U.S.

Planned Parenthood, founded in New York in 1916, delivers important reproductive health care and sex education to millions of people. The foundation strives to provide high-quality, affordable health care for women, men, and young people. Over  2.4 million patients were served at Planned Parenthood health centers in the U.S. in 2016, showing the true scope of their impact on a national scale.

Cecile Richards, president of the organization, is a renowned leader in the field of reproductive health care and women’s rights. After joining planned parenthood in 2006, Richards has attempted to expand advocacy efforts to fight for access to health care, ensuring that Planned Parenthood would help shape the health care coverage for women under the Affordable Care Act.

Tisch College of Civic Life and Tufts Hillel have scheduled Cecile Richards to speak Wednesday March 28th as part of Tufts Hillel Merrin Moral Voices, a program the highlights individuals whose courage to raise a moral voice brings attention to injustice. This year, the theme of Tufts Hillel Merrin Moral Voices is reproductive rights, a conversation more crucial and relevant now than ever.

Free tickets are available at the Mayer Campus Center Information Booth. Please join me and many other passionate students as we hear from the one of leading activist in the fight for women’s rights, Cecile Richards, on Wednesday March 28th in the Cohen Auditrorium.
