It’s finals SZN. Before you begin to freak out, procrastinate just a little more and read this list of stress reducers. Yes, it is in fact possible to stay sane during finals. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Paws for People: Every year, Paws for People brings therapy dogs to Tufts to help students de-stress during exam week. What’s better than playing with adorable dogs as a study break?
2. Espressos: The main motto during finals is treat yourself. Reward yourself after a long day of studying with mac and cheese bites and a buffalo chicken calzone.
3. Exercise: It has been proven that exercise helps reduce stress and increase or maintain mental fitness. Even though it may sound like the last thing you want to do, it really helps!
4. Sleep: This is the best way to recharge your brain. Sleep affects one’s memory and stress levels so be sure to get those hours in.
5. Study Breaks: Go for a walk, talk to a friend or family member, or laugh a little. Even the smallest break can have an immense impact on your concentration. For every hour of work you do, give yourself a 10-15 minute break. It works, a LOT. Do not burn yourself out!!
6. Coffee: Duh. Head on over to the Tower Cafe or The Rez for a coffee break! The Rez always has jams bumping as well.
Most importantly, breathe and smile. As much as you want to do well, in 10 years from now, you probably won’t remember these finals. Your happiness and mental health are far more important than your grades! Check out the best study spots at Tufts as well. Happy studying collegiettes! HCXO.
