Valentine’s Day Date Ideas

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Trinity chapter.

Valentine’s Day is a time for love, whether that be of a significant other or a close friend.  It reminds us of how important certain people are in our life.  That being said, since we want V Day to be special, how should we spend it?

Restaurant Date Night

Dinner (or dinner and a movie) is the most classic way to spend your Valentine’s Day.  A romantic dinner is very intimate – an uninterrupted conversation between the two of you.  If you’re looking for a romantic restaurant in the area, go for Flemming’s Steak House (West Hartford), Max Downtown (Hartford), or for a less pricey options, Salute (Hartford) or Rizzuto’s (West Hartford.)  If you’re stuck on what movie to see, no better time than the present to see La La Land (yes, I am obsessed, I admit it – sue me.)

Museum

A Museum is a great way to get moving – you can stay as long as you want, holding hands and spending time between gazing deeply into each other’s eyes and gazing deeply at art. Though the Wadsworth is usually closed on Tuesdays, check out other local museums, such as the Hill-stead.

Roller skating/Ice Skating

If you’re terrible at any form of skating, like myself, that makes it more romantic.  You’ll have to hold hands for dear life! There are a few rinks in the area that have either ice skating and roller skating!

Spend the day alone, together

Since Valentine’s Day is about your relationship with someone else, spend the whole day (or as much as you can – classes aren’t cancelled because you’re in love) just the two of you, even if it’s just in the dorms.  Maybe even go the extra mile and turn off your phones!  It’s sweet and romantic.

Multi-Couple Date

Go out with a bunch of couples!  Since you’re all celebrating the same thing, celebrate together!  You can peace out early if you want to spend the evening with your partner, but this gives you a chance to socialize while still being with your loved one.  Hibachi places works best for big parties like this.

Recreate your first date

Go back to where it all started!  It’ll also impress your SO that you remember!
