How did you get involved with hockey?

My dad likes to joke that I came out of the womb with skates on. I got my first pair when I was three years old and fell in love immediately with the game watching Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday nights. I spent plenty of time with my brother playing street hockey before I even played in a competitive game on ice.

As a team, what are you hoping to accomplish this year?

With what we succeeded in doing last year, bringing home Trinity’s 1st National Championship in Men’s Ice Hockey, we want to defend the title, as well as capture a NESCAC title, something we haven’t quite been able to do since our senior class arrived on campus in the Fall of 2012.

Can you explain the team’s involvement with Movember?

Our team, along with other Men’s Ice Hockey Programs throughout the NESCAC, has joined in a collaboration to raise as much money as possible to fund research that will aid current and future prostate cancer victims. Our goal, and Movember’s mission, is to change the face of men’s health. We have established a Movember page where anyone can donate to the cause (https://us.movember.com/team/2050449), as well as co-hosting a Movember game with the Amherst Men’s Hockey team in early December. It also gives us a great excuse to grow some great mustaches (not really in my case) for an even better cause.

Is there anything else you’d like the campus to know about?

I’d stay on the lookout for Jimmy Burt’s sideburns or Ty Whitney’s goatee in November. If that doesn’t do our team’s facial hair cause justice, take a peek at Ben Hjalmarsson’s lip caterpillar.
