TV Leading Ladies to Watch this Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

1. Mindy Project (September 15th, Hulu)

In the previous three seasons, Mindy Lahiri and her quirky personality have made us laugh, given us second hand embarrassment, and taught us that getting back up from a fall is more important than the fall itself. We’ve watched Mindy balance her personal and professional life in the medical field, but this season she will be thrown another task: parenthood. I can’t wait to watch Mindy teach us and her little one her ways. The show was not renewed on FOX, but thankfully Hulu has decided to pick it up after fans demanded a 4th season.

2. Empire (September 23rd, Fox)

If you haven’t started watching Empire, here is your two week warning to binge watch the first season before the season 2 premiere! Empire is a musical drama on FOX that will steal your hearts for many reasons, but one character that has always stolen the show for me has been Cookie Lyon. Cookie’s “tell it like it is” personality can give any girl a little more strength in their everyday life. Having a woman afraid of no being is powerful. Cookie’s sass is coming back, and her one liners are almost guaranteed to be better than ever.

3. Chicago PD (NBC September 30th)

Love Brooke Davis and TV shows about crime? Who knew the two would work so well but Sophia Bush’s portrayal of Detective Erin Lindsay on Chicago PD is just that. Erin is the definition of a badass, lets just say unlike Brooke Davis she isn’t afraid to break a nail and would be more likely to chase a guy down than chase after a crush. Erin’s honesty and attitude is so refreshing and satisfying to watch, because who doesn’t love a good reality check?

4. Grey’s Anatomy (September 24th ABC Season 12)

The success of Grey’s Anatomy has allowed it to continue on to a 12th season. Although the show has had and lost many characters, Meredith Grey has always been in the center of them all. Although many viewers are worried about how season 12 will move on after season 11’s shocking ending (is it still too soon for that spoiler?!), creator Shonda Rhime has promised that Meredith’s transition will be one worth watching.
