Thankfully for us mere collegiate mortals below, The Holy Trinity of pop music has bestowed upon us a song that was a force to be reckoned with. The combination of Jessie J and Ariana Grande’s powerful belts and Nicki Minaj’s fierce feature really begins and ends with a “bang-bang.” The perfect time to listen to this song? On your way to that final you’ve been dreading all semester. Plug in your headphones and pretend it’s you, Jessie and Ari, and if they test you, they indeed will be sorry.
2) Come Get It Bae by Pharrell

Yet again, Pharrell churned out another cool song this summer. Much like Happy, you can’t quite get this one out of your head. A mix of an old, and slightly groovy, beat makes this song a timeless one, despite it’s use of “bae.” When to listen to this song? While you’re getting ready for one of your many winter formals. It’s fun enough to pump you up for the evening and yet not too catchy to where you might mess up your eyeliner whilst jamming.
3) Ain’t No Mountain High Enough

I do sincerely hope there is nobody on this UT campus who has not had the opportunity to belt this song at the top of their lungs. It’s a classic, an icon, but most importantly, it’s the best pick-me up song out there. After a tough day, where the winter rain has ruined your shoes and you realized that two weeks is simply too long a wait for Thanksgiving, play this song. Sing it in the shower, sing it in your dorm, and always, always pick this song for karaoke. All by yourself. There isn’t a pitch high enough or low enough that could keep me from singing both parts of this duet.
4) It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas

I know many people look down upon playing Christmas music before Thanksgiving and, though I never will understand, I will find it in me to compromise and I will do so with this song. With the chilly Austin air, the green and red aisles at Target, and Kerby Lane’s holiday playlist now officially playing, nobody can deny that it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. So play this song, and do so unabashedly while you eat all your fall favorites and while you’re gleefully packing for Thanksgiving. Because it’s almost the most wonderful time of the year.
