Dancers Shape: The Miracle of Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

This is a sponsored post as part of the “Fit for Summer” Challenge, presented by Dancers Shape and Her Campus Texas.

Holidays equate to one thing – eating. Why is it that we gorge ourselves (or at least I do) when there’s a holiday or special occasion? Fortunately (for me), I immediately discard of any thought process related to healthy eating so that I can partake in exquisite feasting and extravagant festivities. For me, food truly makes the world go round.

In preparation for Greek Easter I exercised diligently by attending various Dancers Shape classes. Although the classes were strenuous, I kept reminding myself of the food frenzy that I would encounter – roasted lamb, oven-roasted potatoes, crispy spanakopitas (aka – spinach pies), and more. Simply thinking about the food made me excited…it also made me exercise more intensely.

It’s interesting how something you are passionate about can change your everyday routine. In my case, my passion for food motivated me to participate in various Dancers Shape classes. Every time I squeezed a ball between my thighs or lifted a 5 pound dumbbell towards the ceiling, I was continuously reminded of my motivation for exercising – to live a healthy lifestyle. I also wanted to feel less guilty about filling my body with an array of goodies and more excited to enjoy the company of friends, family, and food.

Simply put, I strive to have a healthy body…and to eat delicious food.
