Now a junior, he’s an active member in ASA where he performed and choreographed the guys’ dances in Fest Africa, and SOFC where he plays soccer. Matthew Remington: The Man With One Million BonesBy October 29, 2012 - 1:23am Millions of people have been killed worldwide in the past few years due to genocide. Genocide is something that is talked about in the news often and is an issue that most Americans are aware of, however, it is an issue that is not receiving the attention it deserves. The Cause Started by Albuquerque artist, Naomi Natale, the One Million Bones project is a social action art installation that works to raise awareness about genocide and ongoing atrocities in countries like Sudan, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Somalia through education and artwork bones. Students Rebuild, a national student organization, donates $1 for every bone made to CARE, an organization that works on the ground in Africa.... |

Giggling into Graduation: Nadia KhalidBy October 22, 2012 - 4:19am It's a well-known fact that public speaking is one of the most common fears among humankind. Few people enjoy speaking in front of a crowd, and if you add the extra challenge of trying to make your audiences laugh—that’s nearly impossible for most people. Well, most people, except UT’s first and only improvisational comedy troupe Gigglepants and their vice president Nadia Khalid. Established in 2002, Gigglepants is a troupe that specializes in “good, clean fun.” Their chief goal is to ensure their audience is having fun and enjoying themselves, and their audience spans not only the UT community, but the greater Austin community as well. Daniel "Fears" NothingBy October 22, 2012 - 12:22am This past summer, the International Trombone Festival’s Quartet Competition was held in Paris. Around thirty trombone quartets from around the globe submitted preliminary recordings in hopes to be picked to compete in this competition. Out of those thirty-something quartets that tried out, only three were chosen. And out of those three, 5th year senior Daniel Fears’ group was picked. READ MORE |
