11 December Food Holidays to Look Forward To

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Texas chapter.

My love (obsession) with food has led to the discovery of national food holidays! That’s right, there are full 24 hours each year set aside to honor and appreciate some of our favorite foods! Here are 11 December food holidays to look forward to:

  1. December 1: National Pie Day

An excuse to enjoy all of that leftover thanksgiving pie!

  1. December 1: Eat a Red Apple Day

Because we all need a little something healthy to balance out all of that thanksgiving feasting.

  1. December 3: National Apple Pie Day

…okay you can admit it…you never actually ate that red apple. Well, now you can bake it into a pie and call it a day!

  1. December 12: National Cocoa Day

I prefer mine hot, with a bunch of those mini colorful marshmallows, but frozen hot cocoa seems to be the trend these days. I guess either works today.

  1. December 13: Ice Cream Day

Really? National Ice Cream Day is mid-December? I would like to talk (complain) to someone in charge of establishing these holidays please.

  1. December 16: National Chocolate-Covered Anything Day

I tend to celebrate this one monthly #PMS

  1. December 20: National Sangria Day

“If you celebrate right, you won’t remember this one the next day!” An actual quote by Leslie Newman. #blessed to call her my mother.

  1. December 25: National Pumpkin Pie Day

Despite pumpkin being highly associated with fall and thanksgiving, National Pumpkin Pie day actually falls on Christmas day. Enjoy!

  1. December 26: National Candy Cane Day

As far as I’m concerned December is national candy cane month, but ya know, I don’t really have any say in the matter.

  1. December 27: National Fruit Cake Day

I’ve never tried a fruit cake, but I do remember a Junie B. Jones book where she eats a fruit cake. Or maybe wins a fruit cake? I’m not sure what happened but there was definitely a fruit cake involved.

  1. December 31: National Champagne Day

This one definitely makes sense! Cheers to a happy new year!
