This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

There is no feeling better than walking outside into the crisp autumn air and crunching around in the multicolored leaves with a pair of combat boots on. Fall is the time for sweaters, jeans and to get cozy in your favorite jacket scarf combo. Mixing and matching, layering, and making statements are staples to fall fashion. Every year new trends arise in the fall season that are unexpected. Here are the top secret trends about to pop up on Temple’s campus this coming fall.

Ponchos have gone in and out of style for many years. They’ve been both a staple of different cultures and even a source for laughter. However, ponchos may be making a comeback for this upcoming fall season.

Psychology major Ellie Heron says, “I like ponchos, I think they’re stylish, convenient, and unique.”

Journalism major Brianna Hofsass says, “I think ponchos are cute and comfortable and the style looks like you aren’t trying too hard. They also look cute with boots.”

Tall boots have also been coming back into style the past few years. Boots that come up over the knee seem to be all around stores, fashion runways and magazines recently. These over-the-knee boots are not only slimming but very cute. They are the perfect finishing touch to any Fall outfit.

The trend of flannels and jackets tied around the waist popped up winter of last year. Now, this trend seems have made a complete comeback. Girls all over campus are rocking this trend. You can use neutral or bright colored flannels, jean jackets, or army jackets. You can even add  jeans and converse, leggings and boots or tie your shirt around a cute fall dress. No matter the combination, this trend is bound to turn heads.

High-waisted jeans have been in and out of style for decades but they are now bigger than ever. High waists are not only meant for jeans, but also for skirts or cloth shorts paired with tights. This trend can be used in many different outfits for different occasions. For going out on the weekends you can pair a high waisted bottom with a cute crop top. You can also pair a high waisted bottom with a sweater and boots for going to class or into the city.

Plaid jackets, vests, scarves, and dresses are making an appearance this fall. The iconic look of plaid has been growing in demand the past few years. Plaid is a great way to show your personality and make a statement with your outfit!
