Embrace Who You Are!By February 4, 2013 - 2:33am Let’s be honest, not all of us can be a size two or look like Jillian Michaels (hello muscles!). But what we can do is accept who we are instead of trying to alter ourselves or beating ourselves up. Try this on for size - embracing who you are despite your weight can score you some serious happiness points. Truth is, the most confident girl in the room, despite her size or appearance, is usually the most fun to be around. “Being heavy and being thin does not really matter all that much, as long as it is the body you just naturally have, it is perfect for you,” Ceena Ford, an English major says. “As long as you are treating your body right, loving it and keeping it healthy, you are perfect.” READ MORE ... |

Team Natural & Team Weave/Extensions: Why is there beef?By October 21, 2012 - 10:02pm As the lovely, Audrey Hepburn once said, "The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries or the way she combs her hair." Bearing this in mind, what's the beef between women who choose to wear their hair natural and those who prefer extensions? I think we can all agree that hair is something that the majority of women in society associate with femininity, whether it's one's natural hair or an extension of one's natural hair. What started out as women cheerfully showing pride in their tresses has turned into another divisive tool amongst women; more specifically women of color. READ MORE |

Differences between “in love” and “love”By October 17, 2012 - 9:36am “I love you.” You hear those words all over campus uttered by couples who stand hand and hand gazing into each other’s eyes as they say goodbye before heading off to class. The couples spend all their free time together engaged in study or making out. You just know the two are in love by looking at them. There are dozens of songs written about it and focused on it. It’s powerful, painful, exciting, absurd, and indescribable. You just have to feel it in order to truly understand. But, when it comes to being “in love” or simply just “love,” what is the difference? READ MORE |

In appearance, the media, the workplace, and quantity of sex partners, women still somehow have yet to be judged by the same standards as their male counterparts. Although we may have yet to realize it, these double standards are prevalent in several areas of our lives. Five-Star Chick READ MORE |

Fall into SeasonBy October 1, 2012 - 9:44am In light of the temperatures dropping from a couple weeks ago’s high-mid 80’s to this week’s mid-low 70’s, collegiates are probably planning to put away those coveted summer frocks and pull out the sweaters and jeans in preparation for the approaching autumn. Closet floors are freed of sandals, only to be replaced by flats and boots. Hangers are burdened with the weight of jackets and coats, as more and more protection from the weather will be necessary with the passing away of summer once again. A new trend, though, is emerging, threatening to do away with this seasonal swap, and after this you’re about to be on the cutting edge of cool…literally. READ MORE |
