The New Tropical Smoothie Café: Is It Worth It?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

The Tropical Smoothie Café is Temple University’s newest beverage hot spot, designed to help students eat healthier while enjoying every sip of their hand-crafted drink. Located near the Pearl movie theater, Foot Locker and Plaza Pizza, this little shop is a great find.

The smoothie shop offers more than just drinks; wraps, salads, flatbreads, tacos and vegetarian options also grace the menu at an affordable price. There’s even a deal where you can get a smoothie with half a sandwich for $6.99 for days when you want a light lunch to go with your drink. They also take Diamond Dollars – which is always a plus!

Their smoothies don’t come in specific sizes; there’s one size that you pay a flat rate for, which is just over $5. When you’re looking for a treat, reach for an indulgent smoothie such as the Chocolate Chiller or the Peanut Butter Cup smoothies. For the times when you want something healthier, go for one of the super food blends, like the Acai Berry Boost or the UnBEETable Berry.

I visited Tropical Smoothie Café on Thursday and decided to try the UnBEETable Berry smoothie to find out if the smoothies were worth the hype. This smoothie is a blend of fresh beets, strawberries, blueberries, banana and cranberries. Since I love berry smoothies and beets, I thought I’d give it a try.
