Fashion Do’s and Dont’s for Coachella 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

From the exciting line-up of artists we love such as D.R.A.M, Dj Khaled, Future, and Kendrick Lamar, we have to make sure that our outfits are on point. Coachella is a great chance to pull out your summer’s finest! Coming up with those on-point outfits can be a struggle, so we’re here to help with three of summer’s hottest trends.

Ruffles, Ruffles, Ruffles

Ruffles are a rising trend because of the framework. Ruffled pieces are great for accentuating the female frame. A little goes a long way because ruffles act as their own accessory. Whether it’s a ruffled top, skirt, or dress, ladies of all shapes can have fun with this look. DO opp for a pastel colored dress or floral design that’s off of the shoulders. Pair this piece with the “natural makeup look” and wear your hair in a sleek style or in wild child curls. The best shoes to wear are pumps or sandals of a different color. We’re ditching the matchy-matchy look this year. DON’T overdo it with accessories because you won’t need them! The ruffles are a statement piece so make sure that you rock the look with confidence!

Denim On Denim

There are different levels to wearing denim pieces. Denim skirts, dresses, and overalls are seriously trending right now. It may sound like something from the early 2000s but they look super cute, I promise! The denim skirt is another piece that will complement your frame and outline your curves. The denim dress gives off the same edgy appeal. DO pair the high waisted denim skirt with a funky spaghetti strap top and don’t be afraid to spice it up. Go for colored denim to brighten up the look. This is a simple look that can be paired with your favorite sneakers but if you’re wearing a colored skirt, go for white sneakers to balance it out. DO go for denim tube dresses with fringe because it will add some style to your look. The denim tube dress can also be paired with sneakers, flats, or gladiator sandals. DON’T be afraid to wear denim apparel! It’s a simple staple piece that can be paired with almost anything you already own in your closet.

Maxi Dresses

Maxi dresses are a comfortable necessity when it comes to fashion. The maxi dress is your LBD. but for the summer! The maxi dress will enhance your booty, giving you a fuller shape (who doesn’t love that?). Maxi dresses are a great way to keep cool and to get into the “carefree” festive vibe at Coachella. DO go for fun accessories to add some glam to the look. You can wear nearly any hairstyle with this piece such as the trendy boho braids, wavy hair, or a sleek look. The natural makeup look is in but be bold and go for a smoky eye and a bold lip. Just be mindful of color clashing. Simple sandals will complete this look. DON’T overwhelm this look with additional layers because you don’t need them! Show your skin and your curves at the festival! Also if you’re a shorter lady, elevate your look with platform sandals.

Where Can I Find Them?

DO go to stores such as Forever21 or Fashion Nova to purchase your outfit for Coachella. After prepping for transportation and ticket arrangement it’s okay to purchase affordable clothing. Don’t go over budget. Try to set a spending limit and stick to it! DO tune into your favorite Youtube guru’s channel to get ideas for your makeup look and hairstyle choices to save more money. DON’T spend tons of money on visiting a hairdresser because you’re going to sweat it out anyway. Have fun with your outfits!
