A Definitive Ranking of Best Thanksgiving Food

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Temple chapter.

We already know Thanksgiving wins the best holiday award, hands down. Because, well…food. But what about the best food award? Here is a list of some thanksgiving food staples, from worst to best.

10. Cranberry Sauce

Does anyone even know the real purpose of cranberry sauce? Seems pretty unnecessary to me, but I guess it’s necessary for the few people that actually like it with their thanksgiving meal.

9. Salad

Salad is a necessity because we always have that one friend on a diet. But let’s be honest… we wait a whole year to indulge in all our favorite thanksgiving foods. Why would we even pretend it’s possible to be healthy on thanksgiving?

8. Cornbread

Cornbread is one of those sides that’s good if it’s there and not falling apart in your hands, but not exactly something that would be missed if it wasn’t. It’s just so dry, and we all know the Pillsbury biscuits in the can are 100x better.

7. Pies

Whether it’s apple, pumpkin or pecan, you can never go wrong with a piece of pie. Especially if it’s warm with a side of ice cream. SO good.

6. Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese could be semi-controversial for our thanksgiving list since it doesn’t make it onto everyone’s thanksgiving menu. But if there’s mac and cheese at the table… who wouldn’t want some?

5. Rolls

The funny thing about rolls is that we all tend to pick one up for our plate whether we like them or not. No one really knows why, that’s just the way it works. But, we still like them. Carbs are life.

4. Gravy

We all know gravy is a staple for Thanksgiving dinner. Let’s be honest–it has the potential to make or break your dinner. All we can do is hope for the best!

3. Mashed Potatoes

I don’t know about you, but the mashed potatoes are one of the first things I’m eyeing down at the dinner table. I can’t imagine a world without mashed potatoes but they’re definitely the most important thanksgiving side.

2. Stuffing

Some may argue that stuffing should have the number one spot on this list but I disagree. Don’t get me wrong, great stuffing is a must, but in the end it is still a side to the most important food for most people.

1.Turkey

You can’t have a thanksgiving dinner without Turkey. It just isn’t possible so if there isn’t a turkey on your table, I’m sorry but you’re doing Thanksgiving wrong.
