Why use weight loss products?By November 30, 2012 - 3:19pm It was only a couple years ago, at the ripe age of 15, that chemistry major Cassandra Benner consumed her first green tea weight loss pill. But why? “Whenever I looked in the mirror, I thought I looked disgusting,” Benner says. Lets be honest, losing weight is no picnic. And while Benner’s had first-hand experience with this product, she declares that she didn’t notice anything different after a month of taking the pills. “I kinda gave up.” Benner says. “I went back and forth [whether to buy another set].” READ MORE |

Here she wears a tan Express skirt with a dark grey camel neck sweater from Second Time Around, a thrift store, and perfectly worn in brown leather boots from Impact, another thrift store. She ties the outfit together flawlessly with a light grey Kirra sweater, black tights, and a fall-tastic scarf from H&M. READ MORE |

Integrated but Segregated: The Plight of Temple’s CampusBy November 15, 2012 - 7:27pm Did you ever notice how when people walk into the classroom on the first day they usually sit with people that look like them? Not even just because they’re friends, but if they don’t know anybody in the class they usually sit near people that look like them. I’ve noticed this in my own classes and it’s kind of baffling when you actually see this happening in front of you. I wish the reasoning of this phenomenon was unrelated to race, but it is. At Temple, people try their best not to bring up race, but it’s hard to ignore something that society keeps shoving down your throat everywhere you look. READ MORE |

Fashion Trendsetter: Lara WittBy November 15, 2012 - 3:19pm Lara Witt is petite in stature, but she more than makes up for it in swagger. The way she struts around campus is comparable to a supermodel, as if the streets of Philly were her own personal catwalk. Poised and elegant, she looks almost misplaced in the gritty city. But her European demeanor is no pretense: the trendy beauty was born and raised in Geneva, Switzerland. “Geneva is incredibly fashionable,” says 24-year-old Witt. “Everyone dresses well.” So it comes as no surprise that the Swiss sweetheart is always on her best fashion behavior. In her mind, there is no such thing as dressing down. READ MORE |

Gabe Skrilla is Illa than your favorite rapperBy October 26, 2012 - 1:14am Preparing to interview Temple rapper, Gabe Skrilla, I figure I’ll be talking to just a rapper. I’ll ask about afew musical milestones and aspirations, come back, and do a quick Q&A write up. But Gabe Skrilla, aka Gabe Spiller, clearly has another thing in mind. Very soon, it becomes clear that a lot of things about this conversation will be completely different from what I’d expected.
